waiting

I found this from Miss Jess' blog and found it so true and so had to share! I try to remind myself of this, but don't do it enough. I need a daily reminder of this:

"Everyone longs to give themselves completely to someone--to have a deep soul relationship with another, to be loved thoroughly and exclusively. But God, to a Christian says, "No, not until you are satisfied, fulfilled and content with being loved by Me alone. I love you my child. And until you discover that only in Me is your satisfaction to be found, You will not be united with another until you are united with Me...exclusive of anyone or anything else, exclusive of any other desires or longings. I want you to stop planning, stop wishing, and allow Me to give you the most thrilling plan existing...one you can't imagine. I want you to have the best! Please allow me to bring it to you. You just keep watching Me, expecting the greatest things. Keep experiencing that satisfaction knowing that I Am. Keep listening and learning the things I tell you. YOU JUST WAIT! That's all. Don't be anxious, don't worry. Don't look around at the things other's have gotten or that I have given them. Don't look at the things you think you want. You just keep looking off and away up to Me, or you'll miss what I want to show you. And then, when you're ready, I'll surprise you with a love far more wonderful than any you would ever dream. You see, until you are ready and until the one I have for you is ready (for I am working even at this very minute to have both of you ready at the same time), until you both are satisfied exclusively with Me and the life I prepared for you, you won't be able to experience the love that exemplifies your relationship with Me...and thus, the perfect love. And dear one, I want you to have this most wonderful love. I want you to see in the flesh a picture of your relationship with Me and to enjoy materially and concretely the everlasting union of beauty and perfection and the love that I offer you with Myself. Know that I love you utterly. I am God Almighty. Believe it and be satisfied."

"wishes" really do come true

A few weeks I was perusing the Kate Spade website and stumbled upon a lovely pair of wedges I fell in love with. With my whole heart! I would go to the ends of the world and back for these lovelies! {Well, maybe not that far, but you get my point!}

Gaze your eyes upon these:

"The Wish"

I usually am an impulse buyer and just hit the "BUY" or "ADD TO BASKET" button or if shopping in real life {ya know, you do still go to the mall, right?!} I just pick up the item and just buy it, no hesitations!

Growing up, my mom would always, ALWAYS say, "well, let's wait a few days and come back, if it's still here you can get it." or "let's wait until it goes on sale." I used to HATE when she said things like that! HAAAATTTE it! Well, for some reason a few weeks ago I had my mom perched on my shoulder and whispering in my ear and I decided to wait a few days. {I guess I was being responsible with my money and not impulse buying or trying to spend less, but who am i kidding!?} and I just would pop on the website and just gaze at how much I loved them so!

Well, one afternoon, I decided today was the day! I was going to buy them! I have an orientee at work {basically I'm supposed to teach her how to become a nurse, and so she does most of my work, so I have a lot of free time} and I was going to buy them that night with my downtime. When I woke up that afternoon {4:30pm} I checked the website, looked at my beauties and got ready for work. I got to work and took report and my orientee and I discussed a few things for the start of shift and I sent her on her merry way to check on our patients and I went shopping! {8:00pm}

When I got on the website I could not find the shoes anywhere! I clicked every page: Handbags, clothes, jewelry, accessories. They had to be there somewhere! They were just there a few hours before! I was in a panic. I was now tachycardic {I feel the need to use a medical term, since I am at work} Maybe it's just a technical error. So, I called customer service! The gentleman on the phone was so kind to tell me there were 2, yes, 2 pairs left in the nation that were my size! He kindly gave me the store phone numbers where they were located, one in Dallas, and the other in Los Angeles. So, the next day I set my alarm on my phone to opening store hours for central time and west coast time because I wanted to make sure I got my hands on those shoes first thing in the morning! {reminder: I work nights and would be sleeping during the day so I set the alarms to wake me up during the daytime for each store opening!}

Sadly, when I called the sales person said they did not have the shoes any longer and that they were sorry. So, I took it upon my self to do some more digging. On the website, you can find a listing of phone numbers to all of their stores across the nation! Yes, I did this. A girl's gotta do, what a girl's gotta do! After waking up one day I went down the list and called most of them in search for the shoes.

Here's my dialogue:

Me: "Hi, I'm looking for "The Wish" summer wedges. I know they were a summer shoe, I was just hoping you may still have a few in stock!?"
KS sales: "Oh, no those were a summer shoe and they have been sent back, I'm sorry."
Me: "Oh, ok thank you." <insert tears>

repeat

A few weeks pass, Jump to today Tuesday August 30!

I wake up to find the Kate Spade sample sale. I quickly scroll through and what is there in my size?! THE SHOES!!! They are called "The Wish" and a wish I made. That these are now going to be mine! I can't wait for that package to show up on my doorstep!

the miracle twins!

My friend Laura and her husband finally had their TWINS 9 weeks ago today! I let all the hype settle down, and finally had the chance to go visit and they were THE most precious miracle babies I've ever held! If you remember from this Mother's Day post, I interviewed Laura about their troubles with getting pregnant and having to resort to alternate methods. These babies are truly answers from many prayers, gifts from God.

So yesterday, I visited these two love-bugs. Aren't they just adorable!?

Hi, My name is Leighton, or Miss Sweetness. My mom calls me Ladybug, too.

Here I am being fed a bottle. I was a hungry girl! Afterwards, I burped, spit-up, and went STRAIGHT to sleep!

 Momma and her girl!

 Hi, My name is Brooks, or Mr. Sweetness: today I accidentally PEED on Lauren. {Not so sweet!} Oops!

Yes, I was holding little P man and I felt well...warm, and I looked down and my stomach was wet! Haha. The wee-wee had leaked out of the side of P man's diaper and one-sie onto me! Oh well, it washes...no big deal!

I'm a flirt! Love me yet? :)

their new little family of four!

I was totally impressed by how well Laura had things under control. She's a natural. Taking care of two newborns alone for a few hours at a time is a breeze for her! God made her to do this! She and her hubs are going to be the best parents! I can only hope I will one day be as prepared as they are!

...AND her house...so clean!

my fall fashion

Remember my boot craze post?! Well, I found this adorable pair at DSW and I'm going to give them a try this fall! I wanted more of a riding boot with no heel because I hate when my feet hurt! I figure these will allow my little feet-sies to tolerate hours upon hours at the races! And no one likes a complainer. I already have a heeled pair, so I wanted to give these a try!

Here are some adorable outfits I found on Pinterest that I will be using for INSPIRATION at the mall in the coming weeks for my Keeneland appearances and other social functions this fall!

What do you think of these boot looks?! What is your look for the fall?!

"A 4 hour tour...A 4 hour tour..."

This past weekend I went to visit a sorority sister and friend, Katherine, I met in college who lives in Indianapolis. I had never been to visit her, so I thought, why not?! Perfect time! She has recently ended a relationship and has been livin' it up, and so I went to LIVE IT UP with her! That's right...us single girls need to cherish this time together!

Katherine planned a dinner with a few other friend's of hers in Indy at a restaurant called Sensu. It's an Asian fusion-type restaurant that was participating in something called Devour Downtown. Apparently it's just a way Indy showcases different restaurants with a 3-4 course pre-fix menu at a discounted price. It's a fabulous deal, I must say! Great way to bring in new business!

So, let's discuss our dinner {cue Gilligan's Island theme song tune}:

"Just sit right back
and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this res-tau-rant
At the Sensu."
{ok, not that great, and I'm 2 syllables short, but I'm not that creative at 11 AM after work-just go with it}

There were 9 of us for our reservation at 8:00pm. We were there at 8:00pm sharp! Soon after we were seated, a table next to us with 8-10 people were seated as well. And up the stairs next to us a table of 10-12 were seated shortly after as well. All 3 of these tables had the same server...OURS! with NO HELP! Poor planning on the restaurants part. The poor girl had no help bringing new rounds of drinks, bringing out each course of food...and there were 4 courses for 9 people! {for our table...+ 3 tables.} We waited at least 20-30 minutes in between each round of drink/food. Towards the end of our meal two of the guys at our table were a little..let's say...per-turbed. So, they talked to a manager. He agreed with us that is was not our server's fault {She was great and tried her best} and we were amazed by the food! He graciously took off $10 and a drink from each of our bills! Hopefully they learned from our experience and gave their severs more help!

In the meantime...
"For a four hour tour...for a four hour tour..."
drink numero uno

A Katherine story...

A Katherine story...

Drink numero...?

Silly face, Katherine demanding course #3?

This is what happens when you are there for 4 hours...

That's right, we were there for 4 hours.
8:00pm-12:00am

"A four hour tour...A four hour tour..."

By the end of the night strangers were best friends!

BOOT CRAZE

I can't believe it's that time to be thinking about fall weather again. Although I love fall, with October being my most favorite month of the year, I hate that summer is on it's way out. I'm on the hunt for some low-heel boots for this fall. Here are some I've found so far!
What do you think?!

I'm even in a cowgirl craze and HAD to have these! They will be showing up on my front porch in the next few days! I can't wait to wear them to my next country concert!

And of course these! For the nasty snowy weather we are going to get this winter! Won't they be cute with the cable socks? And then very useful for the floods of rain we get in the spring!

KY girls will know this little jingle from a radio commercial:
"I GOT MY BOOTS AT THE BOOT STORE"

Happy 30th Anniversary

I'm a day late with this post, but if you follow me on Twitter you know yesterday was my parents' 30th wedding anniversary!

They met in college at the grand University of Kentucky Kirwin and Blanding towers. {for those of you who weren't so lucky to attend this fine school...those are the infamous dorms which haven't been updated since they were originally built...therefore, they are ancient, I mean Vintage! And yes, my Sis and I lived in them as well!} Their story isn't anything elaborate. They just met through mutual friends, some women's basketball players for UK and living at the dorms. I think my dad basically bugged the crap out of my mom until she said "Yes" to a date.

And then she said "YES' to the Bling Bling!
{Kinda pathetic I don't know more, and I know I've been told "the story" before}

They didn't want a huge surprise party or any other surprise so my sister and I complied. They went to dinner and I had called erlier in the day to get them a cake made, so I left the cake and cards from my Sis and I for them at their house for when they got home from dinner!

I left the cake in the box as to make sure I didn't destroy it!
The flowers Dad sent to Mom...puurrrrty
In October, they have planned a Hawaiian cruise for their celebration. {Sis and I are a bit jealous! We don't even need to sit with them at dinner and I have 3 weeks vacation available...what's the problem!?}

In all seriousness, my parents deserve time away from us and life at home for a little bit to vacation and relax.
