Garden Party

With spring in the air and summer just around the corner, I am wanting a home project to spruce up my drab backyard! The day I first looked at my house on my house-hunting, I imagined a cute little patio to have guests over for summer nights and fun get-togethers! I have yet to make that happen, but think I may do it in the next month! I have a few ideas for decor and just need the big portion of laying the patio and planting some trees to hide the neighbors! No one wants nosey neighbors peeking in on all the fun! The fun stuff will be planting the pretty colorful flowers {never dreamed I'd ever say that!} and adding twinkle lights, tiki torches, and colorful cushions for the furniture!

Can't wait to have my first party...Cocktials for all!

weekend fun

This weekend was non-stop and full of fun! Here's the proof!
Keeneland was full of guys and gals dressed to the 10's and racing bets made!
We unfortunately did not win a dime :(
However, fun with friends is always a win!

Later, we surprised Brittany with a 30th Birthday party. Her friends from out of town and us here in town have been planning arrangements for weeks-date, gift, party, Keeneland day, etc. It was a huge success! I was so excited to meet all of her friends from college also! Can't wait to see them again.

All the cute party decor was planned by the fab Miss Katherine. I looked like it came right off a Pinterest board! It was a party I sure hope to have one day!

the Lex girls

our bet was on #4, we lost :(

Later in the evening, I left the surprise party for a short time to support my sorority at an event they had, an alumni silent auction. All of the money raised went to St. Jude Hospital. It was so fun! In college there was a group of boys called the 'Acustocats.' They are a small group who sing with no musical accompaniment-just use their God-given voices. They are unbelievable! They were at the event and serenaded a lucky alumna. Brought back so many college memories!

It was a great weekend spent with friends and I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to spend the weekend with!

A catch up...

Hey ladies!
I've got a few things to catch you up on! {I've been a slacker on posting}
Last weekend was my work Christmas party! It was a blast! We all had low expectations due to it's location, but as always, with our group of co-workers, we can make any party, at any venue, FUN!
I ran into an old high school friend that night and she said,"I heard you all get really rowdy"
My response,"Why, yes, you heard correctly, we do!"
Working in critical care with so much tragedy, we have to find a way to de-stress!

Before the party a few of us went to a local bar to have a drink and this lady walked up to me and said, "OH MY GOSH!  I NEED YOUR OUTFIT!" She wanted my outfit to wear NYE. I told her where to get it and we discussed our NYE plans, and she said if she saw me NYE in the same thing she would be mad at me! I told her not to worry, I wouldn't be wearing it!
I was flattered she liked it so much!

Next, last night my friend Jamie and I spent a few hours in the kitchen! I'm working on my housewife skills for when that day comes...
We made chocolate covered pretzels, Miss Lindsay's peppermint bark, sugar cookies in Christmas cutout designs and puppy chow!
We had Christmas music blasting in the kitchen while we cooked!
What holiday foods do you make yearly?!

Run for the Roses

Today is the 137th Running of the Kentucky Derby! As I am not home to celebrate, here are all things related for me to get my "fill" of the Big Event!
Derby

Last year I had a Derby Party which was so fun! We all paid $5 and drew a horse's name and whoever had the winner after the race won the "pot" of money! With 20 horses racing and each paying $5, there was a $100 winning!
Hopefully next year we can have another annual party!
Complete with Roses, Derby Pie and Mint Juleps!

Next year we should wear hats!
these aren't my grandparents, but their are displayed above their kitchen counters
My grandparents have collected most Derby glasses and have ones worth a lot of money. I would love to have their collection some day!  My mom has started keeping her own collection, and so have I. It's neat keeping something so special! I would like to start searching for the hard-to-find ones!
